Rising Star takes Victorian Formula Ford title
The CAMS Rising Star Program has furthered its reputation for facilitating the progress of young Australian motor racing talent, after 18 year old karting graduate Garry Jacobson took victory in the Victorian Formula Ford Championship at the weekend.
The Shepparton native drove his Minda Motorsport prepared Spectrum intelligently at Phillip Island's fourth and final round, with fifth place in both races enough to seal the crown for Duratec powered cars.
Jacobson's victory continues a great year for the Australian Motor Sport Foundation, whose International Rising Star drivers have also tasted success in the United Kingdom and United States of America.
"Everyone at the AMSF is extremely proud of what Garry and the Minda Motorsport team have achieved by winning the 2010 Victorian Formula Ford State Championship," said AMSF General Manager Martin Stillman.
"Garry is a very deserving winner and has a great future in motorsport ahead of him.
"He has shown us he has the determination, focus and hard work required to get the job done both on and off the track."
Shepparton youngster Garry Jacobson took a thrilling victory in the second round of the Victorian Formula Ford Championship last weekend at Melbourne's Sandown Raceway – his first in the highly competitive category.
